Cello Concerto Nº2

  • CD Ref. 8.225135
  • Marco Polo

The Second Cello Concerto is the result of a grant from the INAEM, part of the Spanish Department for Culture, which was awarded in 1982. The work responds to the usual role of the soloist, and its virtuosic treatment. The expressive and technical possibilities of the cello continue to drive the musical ideas that are set out from the start. The work is divided into three movements, with the idea of concentrating the material into three themes, and defining and differentiating the characteristics of each of them. The expressive and perhaps melodic elements that emerge almost timidly at some points in the concerto are a starting point for future works. The work was completed in 1983.
